A Texas-based gas company plans to move its Southeastern Kentucky operations to Harlan County.
County officials hope to lease the building off Highway 119 to the company. Around fifty people would work at the office if the deal goes through.
Those employees already work in smaller offices in the area. The county has been shelling out money to keep the building maintained.
"We've been paying utilities, and now we get to make rent off that," said Jonathan Pope, District 1 Magistrate.
You may remember months ago County Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop sent the Sheriff's Chaplain Corps an eviction notice, telling them to get out of the building.
