It's called Black Mountain Thunder and if you are a thrill seeker, then it might the place for you.

Coal used to be zipped through the mountains. Now, they are zipping people! From building platforms to laying gravel, Black Mountain Thunder Zipline employee's are making their final touches before tours begin. The most important of these is employee training.

"They can be certified to put the equipment off and on and look at the equipment everyday to make sure it's in good condition," said Jonathan Pope, Magistrate of District 1.

Every zipline employee must have at least 40 hours of training so they are prepared when riders come along.

Each of the zipline tours will feature 12 lines, allowing riders to reach speeds up to 60 miles per hour. The only qualification .. a little bit of arm strength.

"You're body is what breaks you. If you can't pull up enough to put your body weight on, then you better not ride," said Ken Krider with the Outdoor Recreation Board.

Riders of all ages are welcome. Tour guides are always available to personally ride down with young zippers.

"I've ridden several times. You got some awesome views from it and probably some of the fastest lines you'll ever ride and if you're a zipliner, you'll really like these lines," Krider said.

The zipline tours are a part of Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area making it a one stop shop for all thrill seekers.

Employees say the zipline will have a grand opening in early October and hope the attraction will bring a boost to local tourism.
