Newly discovered video of Mayor Bill Gorman and downtown Hazard

More Video...

May 6, 2013 would have been former Hazard Mayor Bill Gorman's 89th birthday.

Recently, his wife and current mayor, Nan Gorman gave us some old videos in Bill's collection to look through.

One tape included a series of stories that WHIO in Dayton, Ohio did in Eastern Kentucky in the early 1980's.

The video includes an interview with Gorman and some rare video of the downtown area more than 30 years ago.

Gorman always had positive things to say about his hometown.

“Hazard is probably one of the best places to live that you could ever find, really. We have a very low crime rate and we have good people. We have bad press a lot of times but we have good people,” Gorman said.

Bill Gorman died in October, 2010 at the age of 86.

He was the mayor of Hazard for 33 years.
