HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The regular high school football season ends October 26, 2012 but it also marks the beginning of a new era for one team.
Fans will fill the bleachers as the Harlan County Black Bears kick off for the first time at the new Coal Miner's Memorial Stadium.
The Harlan County Black Bears and the Bell County Bobcats are set to square off and the final touches are being set in place on the new stadium.
Since their opening in 2008, the Harlan County football team has played under the lights of the field at James A. Cawood High School.
For the first time, the team will play and the fans will cheer in their very own "Coal Miner's Memorial Stadium."
They will break the field in right by hosting their biggest rival the Bell Bounty Bobcats.
Harlan County is already the home to state of the art basketball and baseball complexes.
Bell County has never lost against Harlan County.
Harlan County is ranked #4 on the Mountain Top Ten and Bell County is ranked #1.
