The road to passing an occupational tax was a rough one with many folks feeling that when it comes to taces in Jenkins, enough is enough.

Others say the new tax will help the city move forward into a more financially secure future.

An announcement by the mayor may have shifted the scales in favor of the decision.

The mayor surprised many by proposing a total tax reform, which would lower the property tax on everyone in the city while creating an occupational tax.

Many folks remain split about the decision but council members say as long as the public gives the changes a chance, the community will benefit.
