Officials discuss revitalizing downtown Hazard


HAZARD, Ky (WYMT-TV)-- The Hazard Economic Development Committee met tonight at city hall to discuss ways to revitalize the city's downtown.

Committee members discussed possible ideas to turn Hazard's downtown into a more attractive area.

The committee is conducting a survey to find out what folks want downtown.

“The community foundation is simply helping the community facilitate a process where we can begin to think about revitalizing the county seat, hazard, the downtown the center of town. We want to create a community where people want to live.” Said Gerry Roll, the Director of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky.

Some local business owners were also at the meeting discussing ideas such as festivals, 5k races and utilizing the river near downtown.
