DICKENSON COUNTY, Va. (WYMT/WJHL) - Investigators believe an someone intentionally started a wildfire in Dickenson County.
The Virginia Department of Forestry is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the fire.
The VDOF says the fire was reported December 1, 2012 in the Skegg Branch area of the county.
The fire burned on private property as well as on National Forest System lands in the Clinch Ranger District of the Jefferson National Forest.
Woods arson is a felony in Virginia and, when convicted, the guilty person could serve up to five years in prison, pay a fine of $2,500 and be liable for the cost of suppressing the fire.
