Officials warn low overnight temps could cause black ice

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Some areas of Pike County got several inches of snow overnight.

Transportation officials say crews spent much of the day clearing main roads before they could get to secondary roads.

They say roads in higher elevations could still be slick, and people should be especially careful overnight and in the morning.

"We need everyone to be cautious in the morning when you get ready to go to work. There will be a lot of black ice especially on the bridges. If there's any way that you can delay your time to go to work until mid morning it would be very advantageous for you to do that because the roads will be very slick," said Mary Westfall Holbrook with KYTC District 12.

Transportation officials say if you notice any roads that have problem spots contact them.
