MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is cracking down on people riding off-road vehicles on a southern Kentucky levee.
Ranger Brent Sewell told the Middlesboro Daily News that heavy activity by people riding all-terrain vehicles has let to ruts along the top and sides of the levee in several places. He says more damage will further weaken the levee, and if it fails, the area would be flooded.
He said ranger patrols have been increased and violators will be cited to U.S. District Court in London.
