Officials consider consolidating 911 dispatch services

Officials in Harlan County are thinking about consolidating 911 dispatch services.

The Harlan Daily reports that during a meeting on Tuesday, Harlan County Emergency Management 911 Advisory Board Chairman said he thinks it would be better for the system to be handled by one agency.

However, Sheriff Marvin Lipfird responded by saying that at this time funding such a consolidation would be questionable, but that if they were able to fund it he would like to see the service streamlined.
