Officials in Pikeville met today to discuss the plans for a new Jenny Wiley Theatre.

The Jenny Wiley Building Committee met in the space that will become the new theatre.

It's on 2nd Street in downtown Pikeville in the old Dawahare's building.

It will start out with around 225 seats, but they plan to slowly build it up to nearly 330 seats.

Theatre officials say they are excited to have an indoor theatre for year-round performances.

"We are doing a renovation at the amphitheater space right now, and then we're going to have this space up here, so between the two spaces in Prestonsburg and Pikeville, Jenny Wiley Theatre is going to rock," said Martin Childers with the Jenny Wiley Theatre

They will begin construction on the building this summer.
