Two people were killed in an early morning house fire in Floyd County.

Officials say 87 year old Jewell Case and her 67 year old son, Jimmy were sleeping when a fire broke out at their home off of Highway 80 in the Garrett Community.

Fire officials tell Mountain News that they think the fire started around 1 a.m. in a bedroom. They do not suspect foul play, but say they have not found any smoke detectors in the home.

Friends say Jimmy was living in the home to take care of his mother who had dementia.

We will bring you more information as we get it.
