Officials investigating suspicious fire at WVSP barracks

RAINELLE, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say no one was injured when four vehicles caught fire and several exploded on a parking lot at the West Virginia State Police barracks in Rainelle.

Rainelle Fire Chief Shawn Wolford says the incident is suspicious due to the number of vehicles involved.

Wolford says firefighters responding to a call around 1 a.m. Thursday found four vehicles on fire, including a State Police cruiser. Several other vehicles on the lot and the barracks sustained heat damage.

Wolford says he was awakened by one of the explosions. He lives about three-quarters of a mile from the barracks.

The State Police and the state Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
