Officials say to keep an eye on your pets during 4th of July fireworks

While you and your family might be enjoying the sights and sounds this Independence Day, another household member might not be.

Animal shelters officials say the 4th of July is a peak time for pets to go missing.

Dogs and cats are often scared by the loud noises and run away.

We're told to keep your pets calm, try creating white noise to drown out the loud noises by running a fan, air conditioner or even the dish washer.

Officials also say to make sure your pets are wearing proper identification.
