Officials with two Southwest Virginia school districts met to discuss consolidation

Officials with two school districts in nearby Southwest Virginia met Tuesday night to discuss consolidation.

The Bristol Herald Courier reports leaders with the City of Norton school system and Wise County schools have said joining the two districts would save both 30 to 45 million dollars if an agreement is complete on paper by September.

The move comes as both districts are being expected to deal with less funding from the state and having to come up with more at the local level.
