HARLAN, Ky (WYMT) - A fugitive from Ohio was caught in Harlan County after a standoff with sheriff's deputies.
Deputies say 41 year old Paul Goddard was wanted for felony theft in Ohio.
Authorities there contacted the sheriff's department and told them he was in a home in Nolansburg.
At 4am Thursday morning, deputies found him there and say he then barricaded himself in the bathroom with a shotgun.
“Upon some extensive negotiations with myself and Deputy Lewis, we were able to successfully get the subject to surrender and come out of the bathroom unarmed. He was placed under arrest as a fugitive from another state,” Deputy Matt Cope said.
Goddard is in the Harlan County Detention Center and is expected to be transferred back to Ohio.
