Ohio man claiming insanity in governor threat

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - An Ohio man charged with sending Kentucky
Gov. Steve Beshear a message threatening to kill him has filed a
notice of an insanity defense.

The attorney for 44-year-old Thomas Edwin Hargreaves of
Liverpool, Ohio, wants her client tested for competency to stand
trial, saying he may not be able to assist in his own defense.

Lexington attorney Robin Cornette also plans to present an
expert to testify about Hargreaves mental condition, should the
case go to trial.

A federal grand jury in Lexington charged Hargreaves in August
with sending Beshear a message over the Internet saying "I AM
GOING TO KILL YOU ... WATCH YOUR BACK PIG!" He has pleaded not guilty.
