One-day drive helps domestic violence shelters

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - First lady Jane Beshear says a one-day statewide drive to benefit domestic violence shelters netted more than $533,000 in money and household items.

Beshear said Tuesday that all donations from what's called "Shop & Share Day" will be distributed to 15 shelters that are part of the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association.

The drive was held Saturday at Kroger and Food City stores.

The association is a coalition of domestic violence programs that provide services to victims of domestic violence and their children.
