Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. MORGAN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Tuesday morning in Morgan County.
Around two Tuesday morning, police were called to a home on Archie Watkins Road in the Ezel community. Police say that 47-year old James Patton and 38-year old Ronald J. Carmichael had been involved in an altercation. According to police, the altercation escalated and Patton was shot.
The Morgan County coroner says that Patton died at the hospital from a single gunshot wound to the chest. His death is being classified as a homicide.
According to Kentucky State Police, Carmichael was interviewed and released. The incident remains under investigation.
Patton's body is being taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
