PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) -
SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say it had just rained Tuesday night and Ky. 39 was very wet..so wet that it was probably very slick and they believe that was a factor in the crash that killed a 38 year old mother…and put her children in the hospital.

Melissa Sears' aunt says that her niece was a single, divorced mother who worked very hard to provide for herself and 12 year old Emma…and 19 year old Clay Miracle.

On Tuesday police say the three were traveling on Kentucky 39 when their Ford Taurus crossed the center line and hit a van driven by 40 year old Michelle Smith and her son, Samuel Smith. The three children are all in serious condition….Michelle is in fair condition. Relatives say that Emma and Clay both had surgery Wednesday for extensive injuries and that Clay’s injuries are a bit more severe and he remains in intensive care.

Police say they do not suspect speed, alcohol or drugs played any role in the crash and they do not expect any charges to be filed
