WHITESBURG, Ky (WYMT) - UPDATE: 4/28/15
In Letcher County, a judge sentenced Milburn Glover to ten years for his role in the death of David Ritchie. But, because of a plea deal, he will not actually spend that long behind bars.
Glover originally faced a murder charge for shooting and killing David Ritchie in March of 2014 along Boothill Road in Letcher County. But on Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second degree manslaughter and wanton endangerment.
He was sentenced to ten years. As part of the deal, however, he will only serve one year in prison. He will be on probation for the remaining nine years.
Commonwealth's Attorney Edison Banks tells WYMT the sentence fits the unusual nature of the case.
"This was not your typical case by any means. You had two individuals who were both convicted felons. You had a history of some problems in the past that might have carried over into the event that took place and you had questions of self defense," said Banks.
Ritchie's family agreed to the plea deal.
A grand jury indicted Milburn Glover on murder wanton endangerment, and a weapons charge.
Police believe Glover shot and killed David Ritchie, killing him along
Boothhill Road in Letcher County.
Originally Glover only faces a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge.
An arraignment date is set for May 15th.

He also faces charges stemming from an unrelated warrant.
At this time, Glover does not face any other charges.
