One man dead, woman in critical condition after Breathitt collision

BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) One man is dead and a woman in critical condition after a Wednesday evening crash in Breathitt County.

Police say Kimberly Watkins was driving around 9 pm on 1089 in the South Fork community when she lost control, ran off the road, and hit a tree.

Her husband, JR Watkins, 42, later died at a hospital in Jackson.

Police say Kimberly Watkins is being treated in UK hospital.

"It is standard policy during a fatal collision, so toxicology reports are pending," said State Trooper Jody Sims, "And the investigation is continuing just to determine any other possible factors are related to the cause of this collision."

Police say the husband and wife were not wearing seat belts.
