KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - One person is dead after a two-car crash Wednesday in Knott County.
The wreck happened at the intersection of KY-160 and KY-15 near the Red Fox community.
"Witnesses at the scene advise that a black Pontiac car was on KY-160 and had pulled out onto 15 in the path of a silver Honda traveling north on 15," said Jody Sims with Kentucky State Police.
The driver of the black Pontiac, Jenny Watts, 18, of Isom, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger, Dustin Bradshaw, 20, of Isom, went to the hospital in a personal car for treatment of minor injuries, Sims said.
The driver of the silver Honda, Craig Anthony Greer, 29, of Jeremiah, was taken to Whitesburg ARH Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
"It appeared to the two witnesses that the driver may not have seen the vehicle coming due to the way the vehicle pulled out almost directly in front of the silver car," Sims said.
The crash was not the first at that intersection, police said.
"This intersection has been a location of several collisions over the past several years," Sims said. "It is a location where we urge motorists to be careful."
Reconstruction crew members are working to figure out what caused the crash.
