HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The owner of a landmark Harlan restaurant is retiring, but he says he will still be around.
Customers say Ken and Paul's Steakhouse is a Harlan County staple.
Owner Ken Moody has been in the restaurant business since 1967.
He says his customers are the reason he has stayed in the business for 45 years.
"I just enjoy meeting people, and I've met a lot of people over the years, and I've got a lot of good friends and a lot of good, loyal customers," Moody said.
Customers we talked to say they are sad to see Moody go, but they congratulate him on years of business success.
"You know, he's been at this business a long time, so I'm happy for Ken. I'm happy that he's going to enjoy some of his retirement, you know and not have to worry about having to run a restaurant and a business," said patron Roger Fannin.
Moody says he has lots of plans for his retirement, and so does his wife.
"She told me it's about time. She said you should have retired two or three years ago. Said she had a honey-do list for me," he said.
Moody says he appreciates the years of loyalty from the Harlan community.
Ken and Paul's Steakhouse will be under new management starting tomorrow.
Moody says he wishes the new owners the best of luck.
