Slick roads will greet most folks as you head out the door this morning, so take your time on that commute. Most of the major rivers have started to drop, but there is still some flooding in some areas. Keep it locked to WYMT for updates.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Public Service Commission has
given Big Rivers Electric Corp. the go-ahead to adjust wholesale
rates and approved rate increases for three electric cooperatives
that purchase power from Big Rivers.
The PSC says average residential monthly bills will increase by
about $6. The actual increase will depend on which of the three
co-ops - Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative, Kenergy Corp. or
Meade County Rural Electric Cooperative Corp. - serves the
customers and on usage.
The changes will allow Big Rivers to increase annual revenue by
approximately $26.75 million, or about 6 percent, the PSC said. Big
Rivers had requested an increase of $39.93 million.
The PSC also ordered changes that reduce the extent that large
industrial customers, including two aluminum smelters, subsidize
service to residential and small commercial customers.
