PSC approves water district merger

New developments involving the ongoing issues with the Green Hills Water District in Harlan County.

Officials with the Kentucky Public Service Commission have approved the merger of Green Hills and Black Mountain Water Districts.

PSC officials say the merger will improve service and reduce costs.

Black Mountain has been operating Green Hills under the terms of a temporary operating agreement since March after more than 100 customers were without water for weeks.

Green Hills offers service to customers in Harlan and Leslie Counties.
