Paintsville schools celebrate senior achievements

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Students and faculty at Paintsville Independent Schools represented the college of their choice by wearing a school sweatshirt on Tuesday.

The sweatshirts were part of a school-wide celebration of all 45 seniors applying to college and already being accepted to at least one school. Guidance counselors say 3 weeks ago they met their goal of having all applications completed by December 1st.

Paintsville Independent Schools Instructional Supervisor Katie Webb said, "High school is just a step along the way, it is not the end all be all of what we should strive for in our lives. We want our kids to go on to bigger and better things than just being a graduate of High School."

Officials say college readiness is a big part of the curriculum at Paintsville Independent Schools so they are thrilled with these results.
