After a week of hardships in parts of the state, Kentucky fans got their chance to celebrate Friday afternoon, as they cheered on their Cats during their first SEC Tournament game.

Blue skies and blue jerseys filled the streets in downtown Paintsville Friday afternoon, with everyone chanting the same tune of “Go Big Blue!”

Community members were united in color as well as spirit.

Locals enjoyed sunshine, free food, music and got the opportunity to watch the game in the historic Sipp Theatre.

Many said Friday was the first time they had something *positive* to focus on...

It seems last week's tornadoes have only strengthened the bond that unifies Kentuckians.

Fans said they were not only cheering on their basketball team, but their state as a whole.

As the melody of "My Old Kentucky home" played in the background, it was hard to ignore just how fitting that song is at a time like this.

Friday was just another example of Kentuckians continuing to triumph through tragedy.
