Pastor and former state senator dies in Owsley County

BOONEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A well known Eastern Kentucky pastor, Walter Strong, died this week at the Owsley County Health Care Center.

He founded several churches across Eastern Kentucky.

His radio show "Voice of the Mountains" aired for 60 years and was broadcast on WSGS for 35 years.

He also served Kentucky's 28th District as State Senator from 1973 to 1977.

Strong was 86 years old.
