No deputies will be patrolling the roads in Whitley County this weekend.
The sheriff's department is eliminating several shifts.
This comes less than two weeks after the sheriff was arrested following a 21 count indictment.
City police along with state police are going to pitch in and help in emergency situations.
County officials say a few workers in the sheriff's department have resigned since Sheriff Lawrence Hodge lost in the primary election and was arrested.
A special grand jury came back with a 21 count indictment.
Hodge is facing charges that include abuse of public trust and tampering with physical evidence.
WYMT tried to get a comment from the sheriff but he is not returning our phone calls. Within the last year the sheriff has never given WYMT an interview.
City officers say protecting the city is the priority, but they will help with county emergencies.
"We'll see that we will get officers to people in emergency situations across the county. I think this is just something that's unfortunate," said Shawn Jackson with the Williamsburg Police Department.
No word on when or if those patrol shifts will return.
