Patton to resign as chairman of the council on post-secondary education

Former Governor Paul Patton says he will likely resign as chairman of the council on post-secondary education to avoid a conflict of interest as he pushes for the state to add the University of Pikeville to its university system.

Patton is both chairman of the council and president of the privately operated university.

On Wednesday, he and House Speaker Greg Stumbo, announced for the first time a proposal for the university to become the first college in more than 40 years to join the state system.
