FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is proposing
elimination of the gasoline tax to ease the financial burden on
Americans.
Paul said he intends to make the proposal an amendment to any
energy bill that comes before the Senate. He proposes offsetting
the lost revenue with a corresponding reduction in foreign aid and
corporate welfare.
Such a proposal is a huge longshot because of concerns about
losing federal money that goes to maintain and expand the nation's
highways.
