US Marine Corporal John E. Wood was in Honolulu on this day, seventy years ago. "I saw the attack on Pearl Harbor" explains Wood.
"And six months later I was a part of another historical battle. I was on Midway on June the 4th when the Battle of Midway when it took place."

Wood was just some of the many survivors that shared their stories today at the Oleika Shrine Temple. "I just like to be with some of the men that I served with. We have something in common, we share stories and understand each others pain."

Organizers with the Pearl Harbor Commemorative Association say they meet on this day every year to honor the veterans. With today being the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor day, friends and family packed the temple to show support.

"Don't always meet or see someone that I actually knew during the time" explains Wood, "but sometimes we find out that maybe our paths may have crossed somewhere at some point during the time that we were in the service."

There were four Kentucky survivors at the event.
There are a little more than a dozen Pearl Harbor survivors in the state of Kentucky.
