An investigation is underway after police say a woman was hit and killed Wednesday morning on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County.
It happened around mile point 65, just north of Mount Vernon.
Kentucky State Police say just after 4 a.m., a woman told dispatchers she was involved in a domestic dispute in a vehicle on I-75. Police say the call then cut out.
Around 15 minutes later, police received a call from a driver who told them he thought he had hit a deer.
However, police say the driver had actually struck a woman. They believe it's the same woman who made the call about the domestic dispute.
Police think that woman was either in the road, or walking onto the road.
At this point, police are still looking for the man the victim was with when she called 911 about the domestic violence incident. They do not know if that man will be charged in connection to her death.
The Rockcastle County coroner says he is still in the process of notifying the victim's family. He does say the woman is not from Rockcastle County.
