HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) Milk, bread and eggs; these may seem like simple kitchen cooking items. But, for folks preparing for a winter storm those three things are at the top of their grocery lists.
"More milk and bread and eggs, things like that," said grocery shopper, Rudolph Noble.
Charlotte Collett says when the forecast calls for snow she expects a busy day at work as a grocery store associate. With a winter storm expected to come through Eastern Kentucky, people are heading to the grocery stores.
"It gets extremely busy when there is snow or any kind of bad weather in the forecast," said Collett. “They've already started coming in. We'll probably get busier as the day goes on."
Not just costumers, but grocers have to be extra prepared for this snowstorm as it hits right before another major grocery shopping day; Thanksgiving.
"We usually get a little extra if we know the weather is coming"
But they don't always know ahead of time.
"If we don't we usually run out," said Collett.
Even if he runs out of groceries at home, Rudolph Noble says he won't be out on the icy roads to restock.
"I spent 30 years driving on the roads. No more, no more,” said Noble.
Noble said his kitchen is already stocked but he needed one final run to pick up a few extra items.
