HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The Perry County School District selected one of their own Friday to lead the district forward.
The school board named Jonathan Jett Superintendent. Jett has served in that role on an interim basis ever since John Paul Amis retired from the post last year.
He says he is excited to carry forward the work already in progress to improve academics in Perry County.
“In working with education recovery team from KDE, they had really assisted us in putting in systems and processes that would make significant long-term changes to the instructional program throughout our district,” said Jett.
Jett says he will continue to make college and career readiness the chief goal of the district, with special emphasis on math and science.
