Perry County garbage bills go unpaid

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Officials in Perry County have cracked down on people with delinquent garbage bills.

Officials with the Solid Waste Department said more than 150 people were recently cited.

Many are in compliance, but many could still face a hefty fine.

They said more than 50 people will be fined $600 and forced to go before the district judge if it is not paid.

A Solid Waste Committee member said he just wants to keep the area beautiful.

“I love this country. I want to see it clean, and there's no sense in what people are doing, no sense at all,” said Shade Neace.

Anyone who may be delinquent is urged to contact the Perry County Solid Waste Department.
