A petition is going around in one eastern Kentucky city.

Some people in London think it's time they started selling packaged liquor.

Restaurants can already sell alcohol by the drink, but a petition asks people if they want to place selling packaged liquor on the ballot.

November elections are around the corner and prep is underway in London. But folks in London aren't talking about voting for officials, instead they are talking about whether they'll sign a petition that would allow the packaged sale of alcohol in the city.

The businessmen organizing the campaign are calling it Y.E.S. Yes for Economic Success London 2011.

“Well, certainly there is gonna be a lot of money that's put into the county and the city of London. There's no doubt, I mean we're losing millions of dollars of revenue a year by this business going out of town,” Hunter Payne said.

But the London businessmen that have started the Y.E.S. Campaign say it’s not all about money.

London City Clerk Dean Johnson says there is no way to know when London might see a special election, but as a local he would not like to see the sale of alcohol in his town.

A similar petition failed in London last December.

Packaged alcohol sales petitions are also circulating in Corbin and Mount Vernon.
