Phone scam reports start popping up in another county

Posted: Wed 7:05 PM, Oct 12, 2011

Officials at the Letcher County Sheriff's office have been receiving reports of a phone scam.

Police say they have been receiving calls from people who told them a caller said they had won money and-or a vehicle.

The caller, identifying himself as Jimmy Jones, requests that the winner send in money for shipping and handling to a Barbara Gayle via Western Union or money order.

Police say you should always be aware of suspicious calls and make sure to report them to police.
