Another band of snow will move into the region tonight. That plus temperatures into the lower 20s will create slick spots across the mountains. Additional accumulation of up to a half inch is possible in the valleys, while up to an additional inch is possible on the ridges. While significant snow is not expected, we have issued a Severe Weather Alert Day to keep you informed on possible negative impacts to travel through Tuesday afternoon.
Prescription pill abuse is a rampant problem here in Eastern Kentucky and many folks say doctors who over-prescribe pills are to blame.
State regulators recently barred one Pike County doctor from prescribing pills after some suspected he was running a "pill mill."
Officials with the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure concluded that Doctor Kermit Gibson of Elkhorn City was misdiagnosing and over-prescribing prescription pills to many of his patients.
They also concluded that Gibson's practices demonstrated gross negligence and that his overall patient care was unacceptable.
Many of Gibson's patients disagree with the allegations and say he is a caring and responsible doctor.
A hearing for Doctor Kermit Gibson is expected to be held in February.
