Pike Co. inmate walks away from detention center

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Police say the Pikeville 911 Center received a call Sunday morning after Brandon K. Damron walked away from work detail at the Pike County Detention Center.

Officers say the 21-year-old was doing his required work detail on site at the detention center when he got away.

Lieutenant Aaron Thompson says, "Employees advised they had an inmate who was on work detail that walked off."

Officials say Damron is from the Kimper area in Pike County and was being held on theft and contempt of court charges.

Public Safety Director Paul Maynard says, "Our whole goal here is to get this subject back under arrest and back in the detention center where he belongs."

Officials say they need the public's help to do that, so they are doing everything possible to make sure folks are aware of this escaped inmate

Maynard says, "This time we are also using social media, we've got it out on Facebook and we are looking for people to share it and get the word out there more." In hopes they will locate Damron and get him back in the detention center as quickly as possible.

Officials are asking anyone with information about Damron's whereabouts to contact the Pikeville Police Department at 606-437-5111.
