PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Pike County Fiscal Court adopts a resolution supporting the Coalfields Expressway.

Officials say the proposed highway would link isolated areas of central Appalachia.

It would connect with U.S. 23 at Pound, Virginia then cross Dickenson County and Buchanan County and intersect with U.S. 460 at Clintwood.

Two coal companies are partnering with Virginia for the project.
The partnership will cut the cost from more than five billion to nearly three billion dollars.
