The Pike County fiscal court met again Monday night with a goal of trying to reach an agreement on how to balance the budget.
"We didn't take any votes on the budget tonight because we can not do that under the statue" explains Pike County Judge Executive Wayne T. Rutherford. "You have to have the first reading and then at the second reading."
At the meeting they did have a first reading of the proposed budget which included budget cuts and lay offs. "Eight-hundred thousand dollars out of insurance ... then we had the five hundred thousand dollars out of county road aide program ... then we had a million and two in wages in cutting people ... we had to."
Rutherford says they all hope to get this figured out as soon as possible.
