Police say they got the call just after 12:30 Monday afternoon. The U-S Bank on Route 610 in Virgie had been robbed.

"A male and female entered the business. The male brandished a firearm, and the two left with an undisclosed amount of cash," said KSP Trooper Shaun Little.

State police responded to the scene, but the robbers were already gone. Employees were able to give a description of each one.

"The white male was approximately six feet tall, 190 pounds, wearing a black bandana, blue work pants with orange reflective stripes and black gloves. The female was approximately 5'4" and 135 pounds, dressed in black wearing a black bandana also covering her face," said Little.

It is unclear how many employees and customers were in the bank at the time, but officials say no injuries were reported.

Bank employees could not speak at the time, but officials say all the employees acted with the proper protocol, and they are just glad no one inside the bank was injured.

"Units are on the scene gathering video from the bank as we speak. Detectives are on the scene locating any evidence, obtaining what evidence is at the scene," said Little.

State police are continuing to investigate. No arrests have been made.

State police ask anyone with information to contact KSP Post 9 in Pikeville.
