Pike County stabbing case turned over to grand jury

Police say a Pike County man admitted he stabbed another man.

39 year old Danny Smith is charged with assault after police say he stabbed 42 year old Lancell Blankenship four times on December 17th.

Police say Blankenship has serious injuries to his chest and is in a coma.

The detective says the night of the stabbing, Smith confessed he was in fight with Blankenship.

"He made a voluntary statement of the incident. He stated he did stab Mr. Blankenship after an argument that ensued." Says Det. Jimmy Anderson with Kentucky State Police.

The judge sent the case to the grand jury. Smith's bond is $30,000 full cash.
