PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A popular Eastern Kentucky restaurant in Pikeville that has been serving customers for more than 40 years underwent a complete renovation and is now open with a brand new look.
The restaurant at the Landmark Inn has become known for several things, many say it is the Sunday buffet and its loyal customers.
"I was one of the first customers here when they served the first breakfast at the Landmark Inn with Mr. Thomas Ratfliff," says Tivis Branham.
Now more than 40 years later, the restaurant has a brand new look.
Many of the longtime customers say as they step of the elevator they can immediately notice the changes. As the walls leading to the dining room, are lined with pictures of Pikeville throughout the years.
Manager Joshua Huffman says, "To renovate it and bring it back to its former glory....it has been an icon and a staple and a landmark in this community since 1963 when the first 3 floors were built and then the restaurant was added in 1969 and we've been serving patrons ever since."
Serving customers and creating a place many enjoy bringing their families. "We are here for Sunday buffet and it is kind of a family tradition...just a local, hometown business," says David Hefner.
A hometown landmark that customers say received a much needed 'face lift'. Delphia Branham says, "It is the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been in."
Huffman says, "It brings a lot of hometown pride to say we have the best looking restaurant, that we have the best experience of anywhere in Eastern Kentucky."
That overall experience and hospitality...along with the good food, is what loyal customers say keeps them coming back to the Landmark.
The restaurant's menu also received some updates, with the addition of chefs from Malone's in Lexington, as well as restaurants in Chicago and New York City.
