Pikeville Medical Center has announced plans to purchase property on the South Mayo Trail in Pikeville which includes the Landmark Inn and the building known as the Mark II.
President and CEO Walter E. May said the acquisition was necessary as the hospital is out-pacing expectations for growth and patient increases. “Even with the new Medical Office Building and parking garage set to open next year, our hospital is growing so fast it can be difficult to keep up,” said May. “We’re adding physicians and specialties very quickly, and it is in the best interest of our patients to ensure we have adequate space available when we need it.”
The Landmark Inn will continue to operate as a hotel and restaurant under the leadership of owners Webby and Debbie Huffman.
Debbie Huffman said they are supportive of Pikeville Medical Center, and realize how valuable the property will be to the hospital. “We have always believed in the vision for Pikeville Medical Center to grow; the hospital provides wonderful care to our friends and families, and we want to make sure it will continue to do so,” said Huffman. “We are glad to work closely with PMC to continue operating the Landmark for the time being, but we also realize the time may come when the hospital needs this space in order to continue doing such a good job for the people of the region. In the meantime, we hope all our loyal customers will continue to do business with us, and they will continue to receive the same great service we have always provided.”
