Operation Unite and officials with the Letcher County Sheriff's department were on hand in Whitesburg this afternoon to throw anyone's unwanted or unused medication in the pill dragon.

Students from Whitesburg Middle School were also on hand to promote being drug free. "Drugs play a major factor in everybody's life ... and it is good for everybody to know that they can say no and they have a choice in the matter" explains eight grader Kennedy Breeding.

The Letcher county coroner says there have been nineteen overdoses so far in Letcher County this year ... of those nineteen- six have died.
At last count Operation Unite officials had collected more than 7,500 pills.
