Plea deal offered in deadly DUI crash

Prosecutors in Lincoln County say they've offered a plea deal to a Pulaski County native accused of killing a minister and his wife in a DUI crash.

Brett Whittaker is charged with murder in the deaths of John and Lavada Rowland.

Police say they found alcohol containers in Whittaker's truck after it plowed into the car carrying the Madison County couple last year.

The Rowland's had just left Stanford, where they were in the process of opening a new church.

Prosecutors say they presented the deal to Whittaker Friday.

He has until July 8th to accept it.

"The offer was 20 years, on two counts of wanton murder," said Commonwealth's Attorney Eddy Montgomery.

Rowland's family members have reportedly agreed to the plea deal.
