MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WKYT) -- After a bizarre high-speed chase ends in a crash, police arrest two people.
The chase happened after police responded to a Mount Vernon restaurant where Jonathon Bullock and Nicole Cotton allegedly left without paying.
“This couple came in and ordered food and when they tried to leave, they tried to pay with a credit card but it didn't go through. The guy said he was going to the ATM to get some cash,” said Julian Betancourt, manager of El Cazador.
The restaurant’s manager decided to call police after he realized the couple had “dined and dashed.”
Police say they saw the couple's car parked at the Shell gas station near exit 59, when Bullock jumped into the car, after allegedly stealing cigarettes.
When Bullock heard the sirens, we're told, he floored it, starting a chase that reached speeds of 110 miles per hour on US 25, before finally crashing into a guardrail and taking off again.
The chase ended near White Star Road, about half a mile outside the town of Livingston.
Nicole Cotton and Jonathan Bullock were eventually arrested and booked in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.
Police say both Cotton and Bullock were under the influence at the time.
